Resurgent Barcelona were given a fresh raise Thursday when key defender Gerard Pique signed a settlement extension until 2022.
Pique Having these days misplaced Brazilian celebrity Neymar in a competitive agreement buy out by Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona have positioned a 500 million euros ($611 million) buy out clause in Pique’s new agreement.
“The club and the participant have agreed terms on a brand new deal through to June 30, 2022. We will announce whilst the respectable signing will take place in a couple of days,” Barcelona stated on their website. The 30-12 months-vintage joined Barcelona from Manchester United in 2008 and has proved an increasingly regular presence as centre-back with the Catalans winning three Champions Leagues and 6 Spanish Liga titles at some stage in his tenure.
The 6ft 4ft (1.94m) Pique became a part of the Spain side that won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championships.
